Illinois Salesperson to Broker Proficiency Exam and Transition Information

The real estate license categories in Illinois are changing due to recent amendments to the Illinois Real Estate License Act of 2000.

If you are currently a Salesperson:

  • Illinois Salesperson licenses are valid until April 30, 2012.
  • By April 30, 2012, Salespersons (licensed on or before April 30, 2011) must transition to Selling Broker (non-managing) licenses.

You have 2 options to achieve your license transition:
1. Pass the Salesperson to Broker Proficiency Exam by March 15, 2012 and complete your continuing education by April 30, 2012.

  • You only have one chance to pass the proficiency exam
  • If you do not pass the proficiency exam, you will need to take the 30-hour Salesperson to Broker transition course and pass the corresponding exam.

2. Complete the 30-hour Salesperson to Broker transition course and pass the corresponding exam by April 30, 2012.
